Improv Comedy
Comedy is a passion of mine. Over twenty years ago, I saw Upright Citizens Brigade perform A.S.S.S.S.C.A.T., and I was hooked immediately on improv. Since then, I’ve learned the craft through curriculums at two schools, doing countless shows, and going to jams multiple nights a week (which I still do). I’m also a teacher who has taught hundreds of students.
Improv is part of my creative process. I can be incredibly quick with concepting or finding a joke. One of my favorite things is working on a funny idea and crafting the details so it lands with the audience. Being “on brand” is like playing an improv game. You have your parameters, and the goal is to make the brand look good. That’s a lot of fun. I’ll also say improv helps me with collaborations because I know how to say “yes and” to others to foster creativity and keep good ideas coming.
